Spend a night (or a Sunday morning!) on the streets of Madrid with the composer whose quintet made that city’s downtown famous: Luigi Boccherini, whose music earns a spot on many classical superhit lists. We often associate him with his famous guitar quintet, nonetheless, his own instrument was the cello. On this morning’s programme we’ll explore Boccherini’s works for cello, featuring Spanish cellist Josetxu Obregon and his ensemble La Ritirata. More than a few Fandangos will be on Vlad’s playlist on today’s programme, alongside music by troubadour Thibaud of Champagne and several of Vlad’s favourite choices from Marin Marais’ works.
