Renowned for its literature and folklore, the rich music and song tradition of An Blascoad Mór off the Kerry coast has been captured and celebrated in a new book and accompanying CD. ‘Beauty Deas an Oileáin’ features rare archival recordings made with some islanders before they evacuated in 1953, along with present-day contributions by some of their descendants.

There’s been a resurging interest in motorsport and Formula One racing since the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’ introduced a younger audience to the sport. Mondello Park is our premier race circuit, and we went along to see a very special Irish veteran racing car take to the track once again. Niall Martin was there.

Cheltenham is the Olympics of National Hunt Racing, every year, hundreds of Irish flock to Prestbury Park to support the Irish horses, trainers and jockeys. But these are the glory days and behind the scenes the hard work and graft, goes on all year. Earlier, in the season, Mary Fanning paid a visit to Peter Fahey’s yard outside Monasterevin, where he and his wife Ber were looking forward to Cheltenham.
