The RTÉ Concert Orchestra and conductor Robert Houlihan are joined by rising star violinist David Tobin with an hour of melodic, romantic, atmospheric music with a distinctly Irish flavour including Wallace’s Fantasie Variations on The Last Rose of Summer, arranged by Raymond Deane, and Elgar’s Sospiri. We’ll also have Ina Boyle’s romantic The Wild Geese and E.J. Moeran’s nostalgic rhapsody Lonely Waters, dedicated to Vaughan Williams, whose own charming overture to The Wasps also features. To bookend, Victor Herbert’s cinematic Overture to Eileen and A.J. Potter Overture to a Kitchen Comedy
After the live concert Shirley Keane is in our Limerick studios to take us up to 4 O’Clock with her selection of full scores and classical favourites.
