NATIONWIDE WEEK 12

MONDAY 21ST MARCH

On this National Tree week, Anne Cassin meets those who are dedicated to the task of growing Ireland’s tree cover. Plus in Galway, a unique tree planting event brought three families from different parts of the world together to recognise the tragedy of conflict.

WEDNESDAY 23RD MARCH

On this evening’s programme Donal Byrne marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Air Corps by the fledgling Irish State. He looks at the history of service – including how Ireland secretly acquired its first plane to evacuate Michael Collins from London in the event of the failure of the Anglo-Irish Treaty talks in 1921 and joins the men and women of the service to learn about their work on critical air ambulance missions, and more.

FRIDAY 25TH MARCH

Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh presents tonight as Nationwide continues to celebrate National Tree week with a report from Niall Martin. Valerie Waters went to meet the statue maker of some of the iconic sporting figures seen in Dublin, starting with the well-known statue of Michael Cusack in Croke Park.
