Home School Hub is back… but this time there is no school and nothing to learn!
Múinteoirí John, Clíona, Ray, Emer, Phil – and of course not forgetting master interviewer Seamus the Dog – are together once again for a very merry Christmas reunion: Home School Hub: A Christmas Cracker!
Seamus the Dog has found himself all alone for Christmas, after forgetting to invite his favourite Muinteoirí friends for a festive dinner. But with some last minute assistance & inspiration from a host of surprising guests we meet along the way, including Ryan Tubridy, the Irish Army, Marty Morrissey, Mairéad Ronan, Daithí Ó Sé, and ‘intergalactical’ popstar Nova Jones, Seamus attempts to pull off a Christmas cracker of a party, and get the gang back together again.
Home School Hub: A Christmas Cracker has everything you never knew you wanted at Christmas: from a grinch-esque upstairs neighbour in the shape of young people’s author Dave Rudden, who is unimpressed with Seamus the Dog’s holly jolly Christmas party plans (but can Seamus win him over?!); Ireland’s favourite architect Dermot Bannon about to blow poor Seamus’ Christmas budget for an apartment makeover with “big windows”; a magic Kitchen Pantry with the best groan-worthy dad jokes from some well-known TV faces; an emergency phone call from Seamus to the Irish Army to save the day; Christmas carollers, Santa rappers & popstar performances galore from singers young and old; heartwarming visits to Dublin Zoo & CHI Ireland childrens’ hospitals, and so much more as Home School Hub: A Christmas Cracker puts the craic back in Christmas TV.
This hour-long extravaganza leaves no stone unturned in the pursuit of silly, joyful, funny and festive frolics, but will Seamus achieve his Christmas miracle? Only time will tell, but if there’s one programme that will put a smile on your face this Christmas, it’s this!
Home School Hub: A Christmas Cracker is on RTÉ 2, Christmas Day at 5.25pm, and repeated on RTÉ One, St. Stephen’s Day at 12.45pm, and on the RTÉ Player.
Home School Hub & After School Hub ran on RTÉ 2 Monday to Friday during periods of 2020 & 2021, and brought the much-loved Múinteoirí John, Ray, Clíona, Phil and Emer into the nation’s living rooms, where they taught a huge range of fun lessons and classes in which children could actively participate through watching, sending in & uploading the content they learned to rte.ie/learn. From school curriculum lessons, to music classes, PE skills, science experiments, dance, nature, arts and crafts classes, book readings, cooking, singing, drama, and virtual school tours, Home School Hub & After School Hub aimed to bring fun, engagement and entertainment to children watching around the country.
