SERIES 3, EPISODE 6

Since they moved to Tallaght from the Liberties decades ago, Brigid and Chris have raised two sons but never had the time or the resources to make the most of their family home. When Chris was forced to take a sabbatical from the building trade, suffering from stress, the couple found their house filling with clutter and they’ve never managed to get on top of it.

As their youngest son Adam prepares to move out, the soon to be empty nesters are keen to enjoy a little space, but with three cramped ground floor rooms and a garden shed filled to the rafters, they need help.

Enter: Róisín, Peter and the crew with a plan to achieve the most ambitious home rescue to date. The goal will be to turn the entire ground floor into one united open plan living space but, with no space to pitch the sorting tent, the clutterbusters are relocated to a rented hall nearby.

After an extensive, noisy demolition, plans to install an exposed steel beam to replace a retaining wall are delayed when the engineer insists it has to be fireproofed first.

As Brigid and Chris tackle a massive sorting job offsite, son Adam is faced with the daunting prospect of decluttering his dad’s chaotic shed. None of which is straightforward as Brigid favours reuse over recycling and Chris remains emotionally attached to his parents’ old furniture.

As time runs out on the most ambitious project yet, it seems Róisín, Peter and the team may have bitten off more than they can chew.
