Born in Italy but the emblem of French Baroque music, Jean-Baptiste Lully had an output rivalled by few. His success in opera was only matched by his excellent sacred music, ballets and other music for the theatre. This Sunday on Vox Nostra, Vlad dives into the river of recordings from the last two decades that explore the many faces of Lully’s output, as well as some compositions that were dedicated to his memory, showing his influence on contemporaries and rivals alike.
