When John was growing up he never believed that he’d get the chance to follow his acting dream and how he’s showing other young people that nothing is impossible.

Over the course of a year the participants are mentored, coached and encouraged by some of the biggest names in the acting industry in Ireland. They attend an intensive acting boot camp and get the chance to be educated in the craft of acting, to spend time with successful industry professionals and follow their dreams of becoming professional actors. The series features interviews and workshops with the best talent in Irish cinema including Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley, Jim Sheridan, Tom Vaughan Lawlor, Seana Kerslake and Derry Girls star Saoirse Monica Jackson.

Participant profile:

Danny Power is a young dad from the North side of Cork city with a passion for rapping and acting. Danny is trying to balance his acting ambitions with the responsibilities of being a father even though he’s just 20 years old.

Martin Mahon is a gifted actor from Tralee, Co. Kerry. Martin is also a member of the Traveller community and his journey through this series is marked by a personal tragedy; his little brother was involved in a serious accident just before the acting academy began. It was a struggle for Martin to stay focus on the project with so much going on at home….

Abigail Ramaabya came to Ireland several years ago as a refugee and entered the asylum seeking process. In the series we see Abigail finally leaving direct provision and landing herself a small part in the Apple TV series Foundation. A star on the rise for sure.

Aaron Connolly is a Love/Hate obsessive from Dublin’s inner city. Heading down the country for the acting boot camp was a bit of a shock to the system for Aaron who had never spent a night down the country. Aaron hopes to follow in the footsteps of big names in the film industry, like Jim Sheridan and Barry Keoghan who grew up close to where he’s from.

19-year-old Ruslan Kalachov wants to pursue a career in modelling and acting and was cast in an ad campaign during the series. Ruslan’s big challenge is learning lines as he has severe dyslexia; but he is determined that won’t get in the way of him following his on-screen dreams.

Amy Davis is a talented musician and actor from Ballymun in Dublin and impressed our industry professionals with creative writing and song writing talents.
