In the final episode of his new seven-part series, Neven goes fishing for lobsters before tasting some lobster dishes at Restaurant Jagaro in Mahon.

The Menorcans claim that mayonnaise was invented in Mahon, and introduced to the French at a banquet in 1756. Neven visits the manor house where the banquet was held and meets food historian Pep Pelfort to learn more about the famous sauce.

Menorca was fought over by the French and the British because of the island’s strategic location in the Mediterranean, and the massive natural harbour in Mahon. As a result, gin was made on the island to sell to the soldiers and sailors stationed there in the 18th century.  Neven visits the island’s oldest distillery where gin is still made in the traditional way.

Neven’s recipe in this final episode is Peri Peri Prawns with Chorizo.
