EPISODE 5
SJ is also the Lead Global Pro Artist for Charlotte Tilbury – her clients range from Demi Moore and Kylie Minogue to Millie Mackintosh and Sienna Miller. For the industry challenge SJ asks the remaining six make up artists to create a high-end glam red carpet look (less Oscars, more MET Gala) but taking into consideration that the make up must work for both the glare of the cameras outside and up close and personal at the event itself inside. The models will be dressed in ‘red carpet’ designs and must consider this when creating their look.
The winner of this challenge get the exclusive opportunity to go backstage at the next Charlotte Tilbury A/W 21-22 event and receives a full gift bag of Tilbury Heroes.

Further information on the Glow Up series format here:
Glow Up Ireland is an established format, produced first for BBC Three (also successfully playing on BBC One) by Wall To Wall and now produced in territories like Norway, New Zealand and the Netherlands. It is represented internationally by Warner Bros. The Irish series will be produced by Indiepics, whose credits include The Style Counsellors, How To Be Good With Money, Big Week On The Farm, Ireland On Call, Ear To The Ground, Keeping Ireland Alive and ICA Bootcamp.
Each episode of Glow Up Ireland contains two themed challenges – a professional brief and a creative brief. The professional brief will involve a guest judge and will be based on the work of professional Make Up Artists – for example red carpet; catwalk; editorial; movie prosthetics; drag; theatre; advertising. The creative brief will, as the name suggests, test the creativity and interpretation skills of the MUAs.
The two worst performers in the professional brief find themselves in the Red Chairs in the second challenge, facing extra pressure, extra scrutiny and potentially a time penalty. Depending on how they perform they will either Beat The Seat and survive or lose out and go into the Face Off. Just two MUAs enter the final elimination Face-Off round, going head to head to fight for their place in the competition. The Face Off challenges are based on key skills such as ‘a perfect lip’ or ‘a winged liner’ and are carried out on models, enabling the judges to compare the looks. Only one can return to the competition and the Face Off decides which MUA will pack up their kit and leave immediately, based on the judges’ decision.
