This week we’ll be playing just some of the recordings featuring Jaco Pastorius. Alongside Stanley Clarke, Pastorius is the most influential bass-guitar player. His innovations have influenced every bass player since and every form of contemporary music, from Punk to Michael Jackson.
We’ll be featuring his solo work, his years as a member of Weather Report, and his great collaborations with Joni Mitchell. The Blue of the Night connects different musical landscapes – bringing you through centuries, genres and soundscapes. Musical treasures from the ancient to the contemporary.
