On the American day of Independence, Aedín’s featured artist is composer Aaron Copland. And we continue the stateside celebrations with concerts of music by the first African American woman to have her work performed by a major American orchestra, Florence Price. Soloist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason joins the Chineke! Orchestra conducted by Kevin John Edusei for Price’s Piano Concerto, while the Philharmonia Orchestra under conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali performs her evocative ‘Dances in the Canebrakes’ and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s evocative African Suite, Op.35.
