Fergal Megannety in Letterkenny, Co Donegal is building a beehive-shaped like a Russian dacha …in honour of his Russian wife Svetlana! Krissi Smyth who is refurbishing a shipwrecked yacht that ran aground in Clontarf, Co Dublin with husband Trevor and best friend Orla, and finally we meet the world’s greatest neighbour Rudolf Mihai (originally from Romania and now living in Lusk, Co. Dublin) who is building a shed for his neighbours in their garden.

The following DIY-ers will compete in this week’s Big DIY Challenge:
1) Mary Hawkshaw in Oranmore, Co Galway restores two beautiful vintage Rocking Horses to their former glory …who doesn’t love a bit of nostalgia for childhood
2) Diarmuid Cahill in Nenagh, Co Tipperary with wife Stacey, and daughter Cassie (aged 14-months) builds a timber shed and outdoor utility room
3) Catherine Kinsella in Ballybeg Co Waterford needs to refurbish and re-roof the home of her two pet hens – Gobnait and Gráinne
4) Michael Judd in Kilmoon, Co Clare creates a stunning crescent moon seating area and firepit from locally sourced stone
5) Geri Canavan in Rochfortbridge, Westmeath completes a beautiful bedroom makeover inspired by Marie Antoinette’s bedroom at the Palace of Versailles
6) Fergal Megannety in Letterkenny, Co Donegal made a beehive inspired by a Russian Dacha. Fergal’s wife Svetlana is from Russia and he made it for her as a gift
7) Former QE2 Chef, Kenneth Murphy & his wife Gene live in a 150-year-old farmhouse down in Killeagh, Co Cork. Ken converted an unused room over his garage into two bedrooms for his daughters (Samantha & Gemma) …something he’d been promising to do for them for a long time!!
8) Jackie Peterson in North Bandon West Cork who – in a moving tribute – upcycles her mother’s old furniture to create this colourful Chicken Coop (chickens were her mother’s favourite animal). Jackie is partially deaf and has a son Jack (who has Down’s Syndrome) and a daughter, Rebekah
9) Dave Furney in Rathfarnham, Dublin along with son Louis and daughter Ruby renovates their back garden to include a garden Room and decking area. Dave also renews an old bench belonging to his Dad
10) Krissi Smyth in Clontarf, Co Dublin with husband Trevor and best friend Orla, refurbishes and salvages the shipwrecked yacht ‘Erisky’ that ran aground at the baths in Clontarf
11) And finally, the best neighbour in the world Rudolf Mihai – originally from Romania now living in Lusk, Co Dublin – builds a shed for his appreciative neighbours in their back garden
