NATIONWIDE WEEK 11
MONDAY 15TH MARCH
ST PATRICK’S DAY PROGRAMME
As we approach St. Patricks Day, presenter Donal Byrne visits Ireland’s new Camino, which honours our patron saint, in the company of two women, who lost their roles as nuns because of a dwindling congregation, but whose vocation is as strong as ever. Nationwide looks at what exactly is known about Patrick who came to Ireland and, with parades cancelled, we look back at the windswept black and white parades of times past.

FRIDAY 19TH MARCH
For the last 15 years, a young Kerry woman has devoted her life to founding and maintaining an orphanage and school in the east African country of Tanzania. On her first visit there as a volunteer, she was so moved by the plight of poor and dispossessed children, she was determined to do something tangible to help change their lives. Marian Malone reports.
LOWDEN GUITARS/REPORT DONAL BYRNE
When Ed Sheeran, now one of the most popular singers in the world, came to play in Belfast three years ago he took the opportunity to visit a factory that produces some of the world’s finest guitars. Not only does Ed Sheeran have a Lowden guitar in every room in his house, but he has also joined forces with Lowden Guitars in Downpatrick to produce a high-quality, affordable, guitar for young musicians. Donal Byrne has been to Downpatrick to meet the man behind the venture.
