Writer Kazuo Ishiguro on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena

Nobel Prize winning author of the Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro will be on Arena with Sean Rocks on March 3rd (weekdays 7-8pm RTE Radio 1) to talk about his new book Klara and the Son.

Ishiguro is one of the great writers of this generation.  He has received four Booker Prize nominations and has won the award in 1989 for The Remains of the Day.  Ishiguro’s 2005 novel Never Let Me Go was named by Time as the best novel of the year.

Klara and the Sun, Ishiguro’s new novel asks “what does it mean to love”.  This is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behaviour of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass in the street outside.  She remains hopeful a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change for ever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans.

Kazuo Ishiguro will be in conversation with Sean Rocks on Arena, on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Arena is on RTE Radio 1 weekdays from 7-8pm.
