NATIONWIDE WEEK 8
MONDAY 22ND FEBRUARY
SPECIAL PROGRAMME ON THE EMERGENCY AEROMEDICAL SERVICE
In the first of two special programmes on our National Ambulance Service, on this evening’s show we fly with the Emergency Aeromedical Service, which recently airlifted its 3000th patient to hospital.  Nationwide are On Call with the Air Corp crew and National Ambulance Service paramedics, whose job it is to get the most urgent care to those who need it most quickly, often in very remote parts of the country.

WEDNESDAY 24TH FEBRUARY
SPECIAL PROGRAMME ON THE NATIONAL AMBULANCE SERVICE

Nationwide are back on the ground and on calls with the men and women of the National Ambulance Service.  With an average of twelve hundred 999 calls to deal with every day and throughout the country, their work is made even more challenging with Covid.  More and more people need help but as the unofficial motto of the service goes – ‘Our opening hours haven’t changed – 24/7 and 365’. Nationwide spends some time with the crews of the National Ambulance service to see what a typical day is like for them.

FRIDAY 26TH FEBRUARY

NATURE PROGRAMME
On this evening’s show, Nationwide explores the wonder of nature big and small.  From Ireland’s ancient bogs to the world’s oldest plants, we hear about two people living their dream jobs. The programme meets a man who left his life in the financial world in Dublin to create a paradise garden on the Ring of Kerry and in the bogs of Co. Offaly, we get up close with nature with award-winning photographer Tina Claffey who brings us into her miniature world on an eco-bog walk.
