Episode 6
Sean
Sean is a fun-loving jack the lad who works full time in road construction. When he isn’t at work Sean loves to sing and perform in Karaoke competitions, giving renditions of his country music hero Johnny Cash.
Sean describes himself as the life and soul of the party. When he is singing he gets the whole room buzzing and jumping and he says everyone loves him. The ones that don’t just haven’t met him yet.
Sean has been single for the past 8 months he says that the girls he usually dates don’t understand his chill, go with the flow nature. They are constantly making demands on him, saying that he doesn’t pay them enough attention.
Sean wants to find a girl like himself, who is fun going and up for the craic but knows how to be chill and mellow. “After all, I’m only 22.”
Sean is on Tinder but he hasn’t had many dates, he thinks it’s the lack of talent in Strabane. One date he did have the girl didn’t even look like her pictures so he made a speedy exit.
Sean still lives at home with his mum Sinead. He is very close to Barry, his Godfather and they regularly do karaoke together on the weekend, in Barry’s Barryoke .
Sean says his mum Sinead doesn’t understand his generation and is always trying to set him up with sensible girls who come into the jewellery shop she works in.
Sinead is a fun bubbly mum, who says that nothing surprises her about Sean anymore, he is regularly pulling off some hair brained scheme. Sinead works in a local Jewellers, and regularly tries to find a date for her son, with any girls who come into the shop.
She wants Sean to meet someone the complete opposite of him, otherwise the relationship won’t work. Sean thinks he needs someone exactly like him, but he needs someone sensible who can settle him.
He hasn’t had many relationships, the girls he has been with have been too insecure he needs someone with confidence in themselves, in order to handle Sean.
“I just want to get a hand on his dating life so that he can find a nice girl to settle down with and hopefully move out from under her feet.”
Barry, is very close to Godson Sean. Barry often acts as Sean’s wingman on a night out, which doesn’t always go to plan. Barry says Sean always goes for the “Bad Girl” and he needs a good one. Barry’s idea of the perfect match for Sean is someone who is less wild than him.
Laura Jane, aka LJ
Laura Jane or LJ is a fun loving 29 year old from Cork, who is trying to establish herself as a fashion blogger and influencer.
LJ moved home to Cork in January this year after living in Amsterdam for about 10 years via Australia and Toronto. Laura Jane had a long term boyfriend of 10 years, when the two broke up she decided to leave Amsterdam and come home to Cork.
Since being home she has had lots of Tinder dates,which she gives nicknames too, like Mr Muscles or Mr Boring, but hasn’t met anyone who she has a spark with. She says after her break up which was a bad one, she lost her mojo and wants to find it again.
She says her mum is always trying to set her up and thinks she needs to have a boyfriend, she is always saying Move On Or Move Out.
Mum Ita is a larger than life character who is always trying to set her daughter up on a date. She thinks that she needs a man, and it’s time to get back into the dating game. She has even tried to find LJ a man while on a walking tour.
Uncle Tony is LJ’s mum’s brother and he is a larger than life man. Who says it’s his mission to find his niece a man. He says he will know the perfect man for her when he sees her.
