EPISODE 3:

After two weeks coach Anna Geary has failed to see any of her families progress and is feeling the pressure.

Derval O’Rourke has a 100% record and has seen each of her two families through to the quarter-finals.

Donncha O’Callaghan and Davy Fitzgerald have one family each through so things are getting tense

This episode sees Camogie legend Anna Geary with her family the Doyles from Derry take on Davy Fitzgerald’s McDonagh’s from Mayo, Donncha O’Callaghan’s Donnellys from Longford and Derval O’Rourke’s Cullens from Wexford.

EVENT ONE: SOLE SURVIVOR

This event is an extreme test of balance, speed, strength, and endurance.  Each family must nominate one member, the sole survivor, to balance on a beam six metres high in the tree tops.

After two minutes of balancing on two legs, the sole survivor must go to one leg to stay in the game. Whilst this family member is balancing the other three members must transfer 40 sandbags weighing 20kg through a series of over and unders, and complete the loop by returning the sandbags to a designated box under the sole survivor. If the sole survivor loses their balance the clock stops and the sandbags are counted.

The family with the most sandbags in the box wins the race. If all 40 sandbags are transferred without the sole survivor falling off, it’s down to the quickest time, so every second counts and remember the family that comes last is eliminated immediately.

EVENT TWO: FAST & FURIOUS

Fast and furious is a test of speed, agility, and endurance. It’s a head to head 300m relay race jumping over hay bales, a balance beam around a barrel with a sprint back to tag in the next member of their team. Once all family members have completed their run all 4 must rerun the length of the course up and down and climb back up into their starting position. The first family standing up on their hay bales wins the race and is straight through to the quarter-finals.

THE ELIMINATOR:

The eliminator starts deep in the forest with each of the families jumping off hay bales before collecting a log and  then running through the forest.  They drop the log before facing the cargo net crawl.  Then it’s on to a set of tyre obstacles that will push them to the max.  Then they must sprint 200 metres through a cornfield carrying a second log.   As if that wasn’t enough the ice cold plunge baths await.  Once they are through that they face the Irish table.  Then it’s on to our massive ramp and the family who makes it to the top of the ramp first wins the race making it through to the quarter finals.
