John Hume, former leader of the SDLP and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, died in August 2020.  Hume had left political life in 2005.  In this archive programme, politicians and other contributors examine his contribution to the peace process in Northern Ireland, the events that shaped him as a politician, and his legacy.  Contributors include politicians Gerry Adams and Bríd Rodgers, John’s wife Pat Hume, Maurice Hayes, another person who was central to the Peace Process, historian Emmet O’Connor, author and commentator on politics in the North Fionnuala O’Connor, activist Caoimhín Ó Peatáin, and Séamus Mac Cionnaith, journalist with the Irish News.  Poilín Ní Chiaráin produced the programme.
