MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER – BLASKET ISLAND PROGRAMME
Nationwide is in County Kerry tonight to visit the Great Blasket Island. It’s nearly 70 years, since the last residents left the Island but now it’s a busy tourist destination with thousands coming to explore its rich heritage each year. Bláthnaid Ní Chófaigh speaks to descendants of islanders whose work now involves keeping their stories alive and meets a couple who landed their dream job as caretakers on the Island.
Nationwide also visits the Blasket Centre in Dún Chaoin, County Kerry which celebrates the history and culture of the Islands and its people.

The Dublin Mountains are an immense resource, a green lung for the city. Starting from the Airfield urban farm in Dundrum we head for the hills. In this programme Anne Cassin goes ziplining at Tibradden, drops in for coffee at the quirky Hazel House Craft Café and sees how Coillte is changing their forestry mix to make the woodlands more interesting for us and better for flora and fauna diversity.
