Series 3 Overview

Home Rescue returns to your screens for a brand new series!

Architect Róisín Murphy, Builder Peter Finn and their crew are back with a brand-new series redesigning rooms and bringing order to cluttered chaos.

It’s been a strange year. As we all cope with life under lockdown, houses around the country have become places of work as well as family homes. We’ve become more familiar than ever with the places where we live – maybe too familiar.  The truth is: many of us are so busy coping with the ‘new normal’, we’ve had less time than ever to declutter, sort and reorganize.

That’s where architect and designer Róisín Murphy, her trusty builder Peter Finn and their hard-working crew come in. Each week, they come to the rescue of families who, for one reason or another, have become overwhelmed by clutter and disorder.

With just three days and a limited budget, the challenge for Róisín and Peter is to re-design, reclaim and completely transform two problem rooms, with help from IKEA Ireland.

Along the way, there’ll be inspiration and confrontation, bust-ups and last-minute fixes, triumph and tears, but where there’s a will there’s a way. If anyone can rescue these homes, this team can.

Goodbye Clutter. Hello Makeover.

Narrated by Irish comedian Neil Delamere.

Episode 1:

In this first episode, the Home Rescue team are in Swords, north county Dublin, Róisín, Peter and the clutterbusters come to the home of super-mum and hairdresser Sinead and her 11 year old daughter Jodi.

Still recovering after beating breast cancer, Sinead has had to put her mobile hairdressing business on pause. But, having turned her garage into a self-contained rental, her conservatory has become a floor to ceiling clutter-storage room that Sinead just doesn’t have the energy to tackle alone.

Róisín hatches a plan to rescue the room, bringing light and space back into Sinead’s home but when she reveals her vision of an open plan kitchen and sun room opening out to the garden, builder Peter reckons she’s asking too much of the crew given the limited time.

Added to the construction challenge is the fact that Sinead loves her kitchen so much, her daughter Jodi warns the crew they better “run a mile” if they ruin it!

As Róisín expands her plan, suggesting the addition of a ‘garden room’, construction headaches and late nights beckon for an increasingly frustrated Peter.

Surrounded by her friends and sisters, Sinead gets to grips with a major sorting job on the green opposite the house, but her description of the rescue as “Christmas is coming” is not reflected in the mood of Peter and his hard-pressed crew.

As time begins to run out and the list of jobs to be done gets longer, will the team be able to turn two rooms into one and give hairdresser Sinead’s home the ultimate up-do?

One thing’s for sure, they’ll be cutting it close!
