The Farmleigh Clock Tower is one of the most recognisable fixtures of the Phoenix Park.
Erected in 1880, it stands at over 200ft tall. Its clock was designed by a telescope maker called Sir Howard Brubb but it has long since fallen into disrepair. Now, the OPW have enlisted the services of Stokes Clocks & Watches of Cork to restore the clock to its former glory.
The Park sees many unusual events on a regular basis, and today we follow Leanne as she drives herself to Dublin Zoo, in a Volkswagen camper van, where she will marry her fiance, Fergal.
With the most snow the park has seen in decades, the park has taken on a whole new life. Guests take advantage of this rare occurrence, and from sledding to snowman competitions, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. However, these magical times prove more difficult for the park rangers. Thick layers of snow mean roads have to be unblocked and the deer need to be fed. Then there’s the imminent threat of flooding if they can’t find and clear the drain in time.
