First stop – Canada.  In this episode, Dermot explores a landscape that takes your breath away and a freezing cold climate that, well, takes your breath away.  He journeys to Nova Scotia, where after visiting the local Mayor of the town of Lunenburg, he heads to “Shobac”. Originally the ruins of an old fishing village, world-renowned architect Brian MacKay-Lyons bought the whole peninsula and set out to run a farm whilst creating some of the most stunning homes in the country.

Dermot goes on to visit Syncline House, who’s owners, James and Geoff have spared no expense in creating a home for them and a place to welcome at least 300 guests to their parties.

Dermot heads to Toronto to visit the world famous Integral House, a legacy piece of architecture, created by the mathematician James Stewart, who’s obsession with calculus spilled over into the design of his home.

Going further into the wilds of Canada, Dermot travels to the home of the Kirkwood family, who’s lake house is almost fully off grid. And finally, nestled in a snowy forest, a few hours north of Toronto, a log cabin with a difference.  With a respect for sustainability and the environment at the back of every homeowners mind, Dermot comes away with a deep admiration for the architecture of Canada.
