According to MC, “Martin’s grumpy, fiesty and unintentionally funny, so I’ve asked him to do the show with me!

MC is a comedian, also known for Ace My Space on RTÉ2 so laughs are guaranteed and rumours are that Ray Cuddihy, aka Muinteoir Ray from Home School Hub, may be Martin’s Voice!

Hold onto your hats everyone because Martin and MC are about to crash unto your screens. Starting on Bank Holiday Monday, August 3rd, and continuing for the month of August, viewers will be treated to a little slice of weirdness served up on a generous plate of Laois-ness – a heady, never before attempted, combination. And one with a strong possibility of evoking laughter.

Broadcasting from a shed, and yes it really is a shed, hidden deep in the heart of County Laois, strange and stranger things are brewing. The exact location of Martin’s Shed is top secret as the legality of the broadcast might be somewhat… questionable. “With a few tweaks here and there we’ve made the shed a fully functioning TV studio,” MC said, “well, somewhat, functioning, it is still a shed which has its challenges but provides excellent camouflage.

Martin, the furry one and MC the human one have just met and so are getting to know each other. It was MC’s idea to make a TV show and broadcast it from her parents shed. However, she was not expecting to find it occupied by a feisty, unintentionally funny creature who refused to leave. But MC rolls with the punches and so asked Martin to be her co-host.

I’ve never worked with a wild creature before but he’ll certainly bring a kind of un-nerving unpredictability to the show,” MC laughes. When asked what he thought about his co-host Martin replied, “Having MC in the shed is like the smell of manure. After a while you don’t smell her anymore, you know you get used to her.

Aimed at those 12 and under, Martin’s Shed, has the ability to also raise a laugh from those who are older but is, however, unlikely to reach those without the right sense of humour – yes there is a right type!

I’ve asked Dad not to drive the tractor near the shed while we’re broadcasting and he said he’d give us five minutes.” MC said.

MC needs to persuade Martin to get rid of some of his strange stuff (treasure according to Martin) or there won’t be room for them and the camera! But they can’t wait to get started and have chosen a theme for each day; Make it Mondays, Try it Tuesdays, Weird Wednesdays, Turn it up Thursdays and Free for all Fridays. They both love music and laughing their heads off and between Martin’s weirdness and MC’s Laois -iness anything could happen in Martin’s Shed!

Let’s hope they can evade the ‘authorities’ for the month of August to bring us all sorts of weird and wonderful photos, videos, artwork and stories from viewers while getting to know each other. Send your mad stuff to www.rte.ie/martinsshed
