Kate & Koji centres around a working-class woman who runs an old-fashioned café in a seaside town. She gets frustrated with refugee Koji who has been nursing his single cup of tea all morning in her empty establishment. Her nephew learns he is a doctor.

Series 1 – Episode 1

KATE (Brenda Blethyn), a prickly café owner, becomes increasingly frustrated with refugee KOJI (Jimmy Akingbola) who has been nursing his single cup of tea all morning in her empty establishment. When her nephew, MEDIUM DAN (Blake Harrison) discovers that KOJI is in fact a doctor, prohibited from working whilst seeking asylum, KATE hatches a plan that may be mutually beneficial to both of them. But with KATE’s oldest adversary COUNCILLOR BONE (Barbara Flynn) sniffing about the premises they’ll have to tread very carefully.
