This warm fuzzy retrospective throws back to the now blissful late 90’s when people could cram into sweaty huddles and sing their heads off as they were squashed up against complete strangers with no boundaries.

Ireland was changing fast as we cemented our place in the big leagues and David Gray was the soundtrack to those exciting times. The modern Ireland had turned its back on singer-songwriters but David Gray jumpstarted a whole new era of troubadours as he blended his influences from Bob Dylan to Rave. Ravey Davey many called him at the time!

The doc also features appearances by Glen Hansard, Marc Almond from Soft Cell, Phil Hartnoll from Orbital, Donal Dineen, David’s mum and a few very special guests we’re not allowed to put in this press release!

This documentary is a study of  one of the biggest David vs Goliath stories of all time. A man with nothing but the support of a tiny country who leveraged that into global success. It’s full of hope as we celebrate the legacy of a DIY spirit that is Ireland to the core. This documentary is made from the perspective of people who were hugely active in the story, are still active in the DIY sharing of culture and want everyone to be able to emulate that. We are passing on a tool kit for many others to follow.

This doc is the tech era equivalent of printing how to get a record pressed instructions on a single’s sleeve. The exec producer of this doc, Colm O’Callaghan, started No Disco and its Director/Producer Donal Scannell arranged David’s first trips to Ireland with Donal Dineen.
