SCISSOR SISTERS

Scannal returns to our screens with a  look back at one of the most shocking and infamous crimes in Irish history.  A story all the more unique because what happened after Farah Swaleh Noor was killed was even more grotesque than the manner of his death.  A crime that was committed by two sisters, Charlotte and Linda Mulhall.  A crime that forever earned Charlotte and Linda a place in the nation’s criminal hall of fame as The Scissors Sisters.

On the 30th March 2005 a passerby spotted the dismembered leg of Farah Swaleh Noor floating in Dublin’s  Royal  Canal.  What followed was an investigation and murder trial, the details of which left the entire nation numbed with horror.

With the head severed and separated from the rest of the body the investigators faced a real challenge to identify the deceased.  What unfolded was a story of a family plagued by domestic abuse and a savage attempt to conceal the crime.

Charlotte and Linda had killed their mother’s partner following a binge of alcohol and drug taking. It was the stuff of tabloid legends sending the press into a frenzy and every detail seemed to add a new level of horror as the story unfolded.

Scannal will revisit the story, the investigation, and subsequent trial of the decade.

Judge Paul Carney described the murder as the most depraved case he had ever presided over.
