It’s all systems are go at the Stewart House for the wedding of the century. Roo is the perfect wedding planner who takes no prisoners in her quest to ensure the marriage between her mother and father goes off without a hitch.
As the day of the wedding arrives, Alf is nervous and excited. Marilyn is working hard to feel positive so she can be there for her friend.
The wedding gets underway, and everyone puts their grief and worry aside to be there for Alf. It is a beautiful ceremony, but it’s clear Marilyn is struggling. Irene, similarly, is filled with fear for Leah. Maggie, in particular, is aware of this. Alf’s love for Martha is a beacon of light in a dark time. Post-ceremony everyone relaxes and enjoys each other’s company. Ben is stoked with how well his arch went down, and helps Martha set up a surprise of her own.
Alf gives a speech thanking the community for being there. It’s something of a mission statement from the show – there are dark times we must endure, but at our heart we are a family etc. Alf invites Nik to stay at the wedding as thanks for his help, and Nik feels accepted by the Bay. Alf also checks on Marilyn, but we access her unhappiness – she loves her friends and her home, but she is struggling.
