High Road, Low Road is a rib-tickling travel show which pairs top celebrities and sends them off to far flung destinations for an unforgettable adventure of discovery, culture and fun! Both are headed to the same location, but they’ll have very different experiences.
For one holidaymaker, it’s first class travel, luxury hotels and the finest cuisine. Five-star all the way. For their companion, it’s economy travel, questionable digs and suspect street food. Is it possible to have a zero-star rating?
Each episode sees our comedy duo meet at the airport, where their mystery travel destination is revealed. Prior to this, the only information they know about their destination is the climate so that they can pack accordingly. Our friends are presented with a choice of two envelopes. In one, is everything they need for a five-star holiday extravaganza; first class plane tickets, limo transfer from the airport, the key to a luxurious hotel suite. Inside the other? Well, they’re still getting a fab holiday, but for them it’s economy flights, stuffy coach transfers which they have to book themselves, hostel accommodation and a measly pittance for a daily budget. It’s the luck of the draw who gets what!
So as one is driven off in a limo to their
luxurious five-star hotel, the other sets off to find the number 19 bus
to their hostel. They will meet up several times on the trip to compare
notes, and gloat.
But at the end it’s interesting to hear them talk and decide who has had the better time…

Episode 3: Tenerife – Des Bishop goes High Road and Joanne McNally goes Low Road
Des enjoys a golf lesson at an exclusive course designed by Seve Ballesteros and a luxury dinner by the pool at a boutique hotel in Garachico. Des goes whale watching from Los Gigantes harbour, with snorkeling, a swim and a gourmet lunch on board afterwards.
Joanne visits Banana Farm for a tour with the owner and then goes on a down hill mountain bike trip in a rain forest in Parque Rural de Teno. Joanne travels to hilltop multi coloured village Masca and samples Canarian potatoes with Mojo sauce.
Both celebrities try their hands at Pole Vaulting at Teno Alto in Teno Rural Park. Des and Joanne drive to Teide National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The pair take the last cable car up Mount Teide Volcano, (3.718 metres, Spain’s highest mountain) and enjoy some exclusive star gazing with an astrologer and telescope in Teide National Park.
