Financial Planner Eoin McGee returns helping households and individuals to get their finances in order.

In this eight part series, Eoin will work with people who want to achieve a short and long term goal by managing their money better.

Across the series he’ll meet eight very different households: A chef who wants to learn the basics of saving and budgeting; a couple who are about to get married; a young family who dream of moving out of Nannie’s and buying their own home; a single mum who wants Eoin’s help to survive the financial fall out from taking time off work for surgery; and a self-employed community midwife desperate to make her business work.

Eoin will also meet a financially savvy couple who want his help to secure their financial future; parents who want to ensure they can afford their children’s college education; and a family who want to renovate their home to create lots of space to make family memories.

Eoin will investigate each household’s finances- what they are spending, what they are saving (or not!) and generally how they are managing their money.

Armed with this information he will carry out a financial audit and present the household with a tailored financial plan. Over the course of the programme he will work closely with each household as they try to implement the plan and realise their dreams, ultimately teaching them how to be good with money.

Across the episodes, Eoin will provide viewers with useful hints and tips on everyday financial issues.

In episode three of How To Be Good With Money we meet Kildare woman Carol Shannon.

Fifty year old Carol lives in Clane with her children Lauren and Max, and her beloved dogs Teddy, George and Pippin.

For a long time Carol has struggled with managing her finances and accumulating debt.  A previous illness in her thirties saw her borrowing to survive spells out of work, from which Carol never fully recovered financially.

Now faced with another surgery, Carol needs Eoin’s help to prepare for the financial fall out.

Long term Carol dreams of living by the sea, but wonders if this will ever become a reality.

Eoin assesses Carol’s finances and presents her with a plan to help her gain control of her finances and prepare for the surgery.

As part of the plan, Eoin suggests she engage with her lenders to ask for their help as she faces a period of being out of work.

Carol doubts Eoin’s plan and worries what options she will have if it doesn’t work- but Eoin promises to hold her hand throughout the process.

Will Eoin and Carol successfully execute the plan?  Will Carol ever retire to the coast? It all hinges on Eoin’s plan, well going to plan….
