Neven is back in the New Year with a brand new series of his popular Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails. This is the second seven part series Neven has dedicated to seafood, and his search for the finest and freshest produce takes him to East Cork and Ballycotton, Clare, Waterford, Kenmare and Castletownbere. He also visits Kilmacalogue and Kinsale, Donegal and Wexford.

Programme Two: Clare
This week Neven travels along the coastline of County Clare, stopping near Spanish Point where he meets seaweed producer Evan Talty whose family have been harvesting seaweed here for four generations. Using traditional methods, the Talty family harvest fourteen types of seaweed which is sold in over eighty countries. Neven learns the art of hand harvesting, and gathers Carrageen Moss, Fucus Serratus, Sea Kelp and Sea Lettuce.

Neven then heads to Flaggy Shore to meet Julia Hemingway, owner of the acclaimed Julia’s Lobster Truck. Julia shows Neven a recipe for Barbecued Lobster with Lime and Chilli Butter, using lobster freshly caught in County Clare.

Neven’s next stop is at the Cliffs Of Moher, one of Ireland’s major coastal attractions, and Neven opts to see the cliffs from a boat. His tour guide is PJ Garrihy from Doolin2Aran Ferries who worked as a fisherman around the cliffs for 26 years.

Travelling North East, Neven arrives in Lisdoonvarna where he visits The Wild Honey Inn, the only pub in Ireland to have been awarded a Michelin Star. He meets chef Aidan McGrath who cooks Pan Fried Hake with Velouté Sauce, Samphire, and Romanesco.

Neven’s own recipe this week is Homemade Fish Goujons with a Mango and Red Pepper Salsa.

Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails is produced and directed by David Hare for InproductionTV and is sponsored by BORD BIA
