Dancing with the Stars returns for a brand new glitzy series hosted by Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne.

Series 4, Episode 2

Dancing with the Stars returns for a brand new glitzy series on January 5th 2020 at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne will reunite this January to present the new series of Dancing with the Stars. Airing on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from Sunday 5 January at 6.30pm, a total of 11 celebrities will partner with their professional dancers as they take on a brand new challenge and change their daily routines for dance routines. Each will be hoping to claim the much-coveted glitter ball trophy at the end of the series.

The couples will tackle a different dance genre each week from the Paso Doble to the Viennese waltz and will have just seven days to perfect their routine before performing it live to the nation.

Also returning this year is the fabulous panel of judges: Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson. They will cast their expert eyes over the dancers each week and judge them on their performances. Once again the celebrities and their dancers will be scored by both the judges and the viewing public at home.

This year’s line-up includes;

Television presenter Glenda Gilson said; “I’m absolutely delighted to be part of Dancing with the Stars.  I’ve always been a big fan of the show but now that I’m here and I’m in costume, I’m ready to rock.  I’m kind of a little bit scared to be honest with you; I’m not a dancer, so this is totally out of my comfort zone, I’ve never danced before.  But I’ve loved watching the show on TV so I’m really thrilled to be part of it.  I can’t wait to learn how to dance, so hopefully I do that during the Christmas period and I won’t make a show of myself when I get on the live shows in January”.

2FM entertainment presenter Lottie Ryan said; “I could not be more excited to be joining Dancing with the Stars. I think it’s going to be a once in a lifetime incredible adventure and I cannot wait to get stuck in.”

Fair City actor Ryan Andrews said; “I’m absolutely delighted to be part of the show.  It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.  I’m a Strictly fan from years and years ago – myself, my Mam and Dad always watch it.  And then Dancing with the Stars came to Ireland, same thing, every Sunday night.   I’ve had friends and colleagues who have been on the show and I always cheered them on.  I always said, I’d love to do it, so then when the phone call came in – it was a definite “yes”.  It’s kind of like a dream come true.  It’s an amazing bunch of people, an amazing show and brilliant contestants so I think we’re in for a great run”.

B*Witched star Sinead O’Carroll said; “I’m just super excited.  I’ve wanted to do this for the last few years so the fact that I’m doing it now, is so surreal. My kids are so excited; they just told me I have to be good…so the pressure is on from them.  I suppose…I’m a little bit nervous too about stepping out and doing something by myself as I always had the girls around me.  But I think once I get the first dance done, I’ll hopefully be fine.”

Former Miss Universe Ireland, Grainne Gallanagh ““I am delighted to be a part of the show, I’m so, so happy to be here. I’m really excited for when the show actually starts, you know, we’ve had a taste of the glitz and glamour already with the photoshoots etc but I actually cannot wait to get stuck into rehearsals and then for the live shows to begin.  I am nervous though about picking up the dances quick enough but I‘m going to try my absolute best and bring in my competitive spirit while enjoying the experience overall”.

Olympic Gold medallist Michael Carruth said; “I’m hugely excited; it’s a programme we watch as a family all the time, myself, my wife and my kids, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m a little bit nervous and anxious about it too as I’m completely going out of my comfort zone, but I know what I’m like, I’m in it so I’ll want to win it, that’s the way I am.  At 52 years of age I still love to give myself challenges and this is a huge challenge and I’m looking forward to it.”

Love Islander, Yewande Biala added “I’m super excited, just excited to learn new moves and meet new people.  It’ll be interesting to get to know everyone.  I just want to enjoy the experience overall really.”

Fr. Ray Kelly commented:“I’m very excited but there’s a little bit of apprehension there as well because it’s not singing… if you asked me to sing ten songs… no problem… but no I have to use my feet and we’re into a whole different ball game when I have to use the feet.  So I’m hoping that it won’t be two left feet all the time and that I’ll be able to get it together…but from watching it on television it sounds so exciting and it’s great to be part of such a great production so I look forward to the weeks ahead”.

Television presenter Brian Dowling said: “I’m super excited because everyone knows the show, it’s on all over the world and to get to dance on one of the biggest shows on Irish television; is phenomenal.  But I am more nervous about this than anything else I’ve ever done as it’s based on your ability to learn a new skill and at my age I’m in my comfort zone…so I’m really pushing myself.  When I reached 40 I told myself I was going to start doing things I usually say no to and this is one of those things!  But it’s great opportunity and I always think the older you get the less opportunities become available to you, so my new lease on life is to say yes a little more and do things that challenge me… so that’s the plan.”

Nationwide presenter, Mary Kennedy said:“I’m really looking forward to it, I’m quite petrified but I’m looking forward to learning new dances and doing something different. I’ve always been a fan and I’ve come out to watch the live show every year it’s been on so now it’s time to pony up and put my money where my mouth is…”

Kilkenny Hurler, Aidan Fogarty said; “I feel really excited and really nervous. I’ve played in All-Ireland finals and I was coming up here today thinking I’d have taken an All-Ireland Final any day over this, but really excited and really nervous is probably the best way to describe how I’m feeling.”
