Cat Hospital takes viewers inside Ireland’s first purpose built veterinary clinic that caters exclusively for cats.
Nestled in the leafy environs of Glanmire outside Cork city, Cat Hospital is run by veterinary specialist Clare Meade who, together with her dedicated team, offers highly specialised care to their feline clientele.
Each week, this six-part observational series delivers a slice of life in the clinic; where cases can range from grooming and neutering to house calls and life and death medical emergencies.
Each episode reveals the drama, tension and heart-warming moments as Clare’s team tend to the creatures in their care. As our cat owners await diagnoses and the outcomes of surgery we see the dedication and bonds of love and between cats and their owners.
In episode one, biker Wolfgang is worried about the newest arrival to his feline family of twenty-five. Paulina is having extreme difficulty breathing, Clare diagnoses a large growth in Paulina’s throat and it looks like Clare will need to operate.
Retired ballerina Lavinia lives in Blackrock with her two thoroughbred Siamese cats whom she describes as ‘shocking snobs’. Del boy, once king of the cat show scene is now adjusting to life out of the spotlight and past his prime. Will he co-operate with vet Clare’s medical interventions?
Curley, has clearly bitten off more than he can chew when he shows up after a night on the town with a split tongue. His concerned owners, Maite and Darragh rush him to Claire for emergency surgery.
Meanwhile Whitney and Bobby have gotten themselves into a spot of bother. While they were stretched out in the back garden they failed to notice they were being infested by tiny red harvest mites also known as chiggers. Chiggers can be life threatening for cats. Can Clare help?
Cat Hospital is a M3TV / Cornelia Street co-production.
The six-part series, sponsored by Purina ONE advanced nutrition, begins on RTÉ ONE on November 15th at 8.30 pm.
