Pulling with my Parents is a brand new six part series which follows young singletons from across the country who are stuck in a merry-go-round of bad dates and dating apps. Jaded with swiping left or right, ghosting and disastrous dates, these singletons are taking drastic action and handing over the reins to their parents to give their dating profiles a full make-over to crack the cupid conundrum.
In episode three we meet Conor McArdle and Emily Yule.
Conor hopes the man of his dreams will just turn up in his local one day. He spend most of his spare’s time with his female friends in local pubs, and he has yet to engage in the gay scene. He once went on a date… in a McDonald’s car park. But he decided to bring his friend with him – and put her in the boot of his car! His date got into his car – but he had to cut the date short when he heard his friend snoring in the boot.
Mum Eileen and her partner Sean join Conor in his quest to find a partner and live happily ever after and they hit the gay bars of Belfast to find a suitor for Conor. There are some eye-opening moments when Conor opens up his Apps to his family – and explains the world of Tops, Bottoms and aubergines…
Emily Yule is a bit of a free spirit with her main goals in life being to be happy and have fun, rules of life thought to her by her equally free-spirited patents, Andy and Fiona.
She still lives at home with her parents and younger brother in their self-confessed mad house. Emily has had her fair share of serious and not so serious relationships. The serious ones have all been brought home to the crazy family environment of her home, with some lasting longer than others. Emily’s Dad, Andy and Mum are big, loud, Scottish characters and definitely not afraid to speak their mind. This can scare some of the locals lads Emily has brought home in the past including some games of Monopoly that haven’t finished on very friendly terms.
It’s fair to say Emily doesn’t quite know what she wants when it comes to guys as her friends will testify to. They chat openly about Emily’s love life – saying she is absolutely great craic but they’re not surprised she hasn’t found someone as she doesn’t know what she’s looking for.
Although Emily likes her life in Carlow she does admit that it’s hard to impossible to try and find dates. In a small town like Carlow everyone knows everyone and at some point everyone has probably been with everyone. So you need to look a little further a field.
Pulling with My Parents continues on Monday, 28th october at 9.30pm on RTÉ 2.
