Pulling with my Parents is a brand new six part series starting on RTÉ 2, Monday, 14th October at 9.30pm which follows young singletons from across the country who are stuck in a merry-go-round of bad dates and dating apps. Jaded with swiping left or right, ghosting and disastrous dates, these singletons are taking drastic action and handing over the reins to their parents to give their dating profiles a full make-over to crack the cupid conundrum.
Parents of lovelorn millennials will roll up their sleeves to give their little angels’ dating profiles an old fashioned overhaul, replacing saucy selfies with something more becoming in order to find them suitable suitors.
As well as a crash course in emojis, the parents will look to the more traditional routes to find their loved ones a date. Will a small ad in the Farmer’s Journal be just the ticket? What about the talent at the local GAA club or does one of the neighbours have a niece just home from Australia?
In this warm and funny series, we’ll explore the deepest corners of the generation gap, enjoy some good old fashioned romance with a side of cringe and endeavour to answer the age old question, does Mam really know best?
In episode one ofPulling with the Parents we meet Sophie La Touche and Jason O’Byrne.
Sophie, 28, always had her heart set on meeting an exotic prince with healthy pockets. A self-confessed crazy cat lady, and proud of it, any man hoping to come into Sophie’s life will have to win the affection of Mafia, her cat, first. Having returned home to Limerick four years ago Sophie is finding the dating scene a bit lackluster and admits she needs some help. She drafts in Mom, Andrea, and Nan, Mary, to help her find that special someone.
Jason, 30, is keen to find someone to settle down with. He’s sick of the dating scene and while he’s outgoing and confident in his everyday life, he relies on dating apps to meet girls. Jason loves keeping fit and would love to find an outdoorsy girl. Up until now he has been happy to hide behind these apps but so far he hasn’t been successful in finding ‘The One’ so he’s handing control over to his Mother, Anne and Dad, Pat, to find him the perfect woman. Will Anne and Pat have the secret formula and find someone to look after and spoil Jason just like Mammy does?
