Mary Kennedy goes karting in Edgeworthstown and also pays a visit to Centre Parcs to see what’s on offer.

WEDNESDAY 9TH OCTOBER

This week RTE Nationwide celebrate Mental Health Week and meet some people who are raising Mental health awareness. Opening up and talking about your mental health issues can be one of the hardest obstacles to overcome when the light goes out of your life.  Doug Leddin is a young professional living in Dublin who suffered from depression for years and then went public with his story on You Tube.  He was astonished when he had a million views in 24 hours, his only regret is not opening up sooner. Reporter Mary Fanning went to Dublin to meet him.

Also on the programme, Reporter Marian Malone meets a voluntary mental health and suicide prevention group that was set up in Kinvara, County Galway in response to deaths by suicides in the area.

FRIDAY 11TH OCTOBER

RTE Nationwide takes a look at some positive community projects taking place in counties Limerick and Kildare. The village of Athea in County Limerick has such a vibrant, active community, it’s hard to believe its population is less than 400.  Athea Tidy Towns Committee, together with the Community Council, have pioneered numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life of locals, and to entice others to come to live there.  Marian Malone reports on their story.

If you use mainline trains you might have noticed local history posters popping up at stations around the country recently.  Reporter Niall Martin has been to Athy station to meet the man responsible for them.
