Bhíodh sé de nós ag cuid de mhuintir Chonamara a n-aghaidh a thabhairt ar an Eachréidh taobh thoir de Ghaillimh sna blianta siar le obair shéasúrach feilme a dhéanamh ansin,  nuair ba bheag deis eile fostaíochta a bhí ar fáil sa mbaile acu.  ‘Spailpínteacht’ a thugtaí ar an obair seo, agus inniu ar an gclár éistfidh muid le beirt a d’oibrigh mar spailpíní agus a labhair ar Raidió na Gaeltachta’ sna seachtóidí, is iad sin Cóil Wallace as an bhFáirche, An Cheathrú Rua (1974) agus Colm Ó Fátharta, Cóil a Ghabha as na hAille in Indreabhán (1979).  Is í Eibhlín de Bhailís a chuirfidh an clár i láthair.

In times past, many people from Connemara used to find seasonal farmwork in the east of County Galway, when there were few work opportunities in their home areas.  They were called ‘spailpíní’ and on the programme today, we’ll hear interviews from the archives with two men who used to do this kind of work – Cóil Wallace from An Cheathrú Rua (1974) and Colm Ó Fátharta from Indreabhán (1979).  Eibhlín de Bhailís presents.
