The Vienna State Opera present this layered, allegorical fairy tale with the brilliant soprano Camilla Nylund in the demanding title role. Nina Stemme sings the Dyer’s Wife, and tenor Stephen Gould sings the Emperor. Bass-baritone Wolfgang Koch is Barak the Dyer, and Evelyn Herlitzius is the malevolent Nurse. Christian Thielemann conducts the Vienna State Opera Chorus, the Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in this May 2019 production.
