Tonight Nationwide is focusing on Ireland’s participation in this year’s Entente Florale competition.  This year’s entrants are Listowel in County Kerry and Mulranny in County Mayo and the programme visits both locations to see how community involvement plays a massive role in preparing for such an event.  The team talks to one of the judges and learn what the Entente Florale competition is all about and gets a flavour of what both of the Irish entrants have to offer.

Mulranny, Co. Mayo is this year’s entry in the Village category, and with the judging panel in town, we’ll be finding out about all the hard work that goes into being an Entente Florale entrant.

The heritage town of Listowel in County Kerry and overall winner of last year’s Tidy Towns competition, is this year’s entry in the Town category in the Entente Florale competition.  Anne Cassin goes along to find out about what projects have been undertaken as they prepare for this prestigious event and what it will mean to the village after the competition is over.

Wednesday 28th August, 7.00pm, RTÉ One

As All Ireland Football final approaches, Nationwide takes a look behind the scenes at Croke Park.  The team visit the GAA museum to see the original Sam Maguire Trophy and takes a walk on the Skyline tour high above Croke Park.  Plus we find out how diversity and inclusion is now taking centre stage in the GAA.

Reporter Niall Martin visits the new 50 acre GAA farm in North County Dublin where they grow the grass and turf for the pitch at Croke Park.

GAA clubs play a huge part in bringing local people together, whether it’s to coach, train or support Gaelic games. The GAA recognises this and their new motto, ‘Where We All Belong’ is centred around the inclusion of all.  Reporter Zainab Boladale has been finding out how that’s being done in the Lake County of Westmeath.

Friday 30th August, 7.00pm, RTÉ One

Presenter Anne Cassin heads to Dalkey Island off the South Co. Dublin coast to see how the Island’s feral goat herd have survived over the bitter winter.

Also in the programme, Anne travels to an Alpaca farm where these docile animals can be trekked around parkland by visitors.  She visits on shearing day when the animals get their annual haircut.
