Monday 24th June, 7.00pm, RTÉ One

Guest presenter Marty Morrissey returns to his home village of Quilty on the West Coast of Clare to tell an amazing story of love, marriage and faith.  He hears all about Martin Shanahan who married his great love and wife Mary Margaret only to lose her to cancer but his faith remained strong and recently he was ordained a priest at 70 years of age.  Marty also visits Kilrush and the beautiful Scattery Island as local woman Irene Hamilton returns home from city life to start a business on the Shannon Estuary, Scattery Island Boat Tours.

Wednesday 26th June, 7.00pm, RTÉ One

Nationwide visits the seaside town of Lahinch just days before it hosts the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open from July 4th to 7th,  the first time in its history the Irish Open has been held in County Clare.  The programme explores the impact on the town and on County Clare of the impending arrival of up to 100,000 visitors and fifteen of the top 50 golfers in the world.  Accommodation has been booked out since the announcement of the event over a year ago, the town has had a major face lift, and the famous Lahinch Golf Club is poised and ready to become the focus of the golfing world in early July.  Nationwide also take a look at the local cuisine on offer to this major international clientele, as well as checking out another sport, besides golf, for which Lahinch is famous for which is surfing.

Friday 28th June, 7.00pm, RTÉ One

Tonight’s Nationwide focuses on the magnificent Shannon Estuary, one of the world’s greatest natural deep water harbours.  Marty Morrissey brings us a special report on the Tarbert to Killimer ferry service.  Mary Kennedy explores the largest bulk port in Ireland  Foynes, and looks at the work of the Shannon Foynes Port Company which manages marine activities on the estuary.  Also in Foynes, Mary visits the highly successful and inclusive Foynes Yacht Club, and the internationally-famous Flying Boat Museum, which captures the story of how Foynes became one of the great aviation hubs of the world in the mid-20th century.

The Tarbert to Killimer ferry service is celebrating its 50th anniversary.  Marty hears tales of love and labour facilitated by this link across the water from Kerry to Clare.
