It’s been less than two weeks since giraffe Maeve gave birth to her calf, and with first-time mother Casey due to give birth any day, the young calf could soon be joined by another new arrival.
Gerry has travelled over 8,000 kilometres to visit an elephant conservation project supported by Dublin Zoo in India. This week he investigates what happens when the animals and humans come into contact with one another, and has some close encounters of his own with elephants in the wild.
43-year-old southern white rhinoceros, Sam, is a favourite amongst zookeepers and visitors alike, but when John and Ken notice the old rhinoceros has developed a painful skin condition they call in Dublin Zoo’s veterinary team to investigate.
