EPISODE 1 – MODERN MAN
Marty Morrissey & Bernard O’Shea want to find out about the modern man of today – is it all just about fashion, looks & beards? Their first stop off is with physiologist Ray O’Neill who informs them that the male of today is under pressure to be a beautiful person – Daniel Craig (who Marty has been told he looks like) is the modern man of today. So with a picture in their heads, they decide to meet with the ladies from Tropical Popical who can set them straight about what their definition of the man of today needs to be & while they are there as well as Marty & Bernard get their first ever manicure.
Marty decides to meet with a man who might be able to help the two boys – Bernard Brogan – who chats about his definition of the modern man is and also sets them straight about what the modern man is doing for themselves. Is it all about moisturising, facials & fashion?
They decide to go meet “The Skin Nerd” Jennifer Rock who treats the boys to their first facial and they are impressed – this leads them onto further grooming with Mark O’Keefe in Dublin male grooming hotspot – Sugar Daddy – where they are waxed, plucked and groomed – all in the name of beauty!!
Marty & Bernard decide then to explore the world of aesthetics – the world of Botox & Fillers – they meet with Ireland’s version of Ken doll – Damien Nolan. He shows the lads what his world is like regards getting his bi-monthly botox & fillers, it ain’t for the fainthearted. Bernard has a massive fear of needles so he finds it rather tricky to say the least.
Bernard & Marty are full of great ideas – their new idea is now that they want to be models – they want to give it a try – so they visit Derek Daniels from Irelands leading model agency – Assets Modelling agency. Derek educates the boy’s regards the modelling of modern man – it is all about social media and their followers. Derek advises them the first thing they need to do is get a portfolio together – so they visit Stephen James O’Neill a leading fashion & portfolio photographer. Stephen gets the boys to work, there are a few hiccups on the shoot – skinny jeans……. the modern fashion core item for men don’t make it easy for these two boys.
Deep into their adventure, the two boys feel as if they need to get out of Ireland to explore their potential modelling careers so they head to Martys old stomping ground New York City.
They go to Manhattan to meet with top plastic surgeon Dr Shaffer – who advises them on all the latest plastic surgeries for his male clientele. Will one of them try botox?
Marty brings Bernard to meet with former Roscommon footballer Neil Collins – who is taking the New York fashion scene by storm.
They meet with Anne Koch a fascinating transgender woman – who was a former male model – she gives them some tips for the camera but also talks to them about what it was like to be a male model in Japan many moons ago. Continuing on the journey of their modelling careers they go meet with leading social media influencer Erica Fox aka @retroflame – to chat about what it takes to make it on Instagram. They also meet Nolé Marin – leading Artistic Director and former judge on Americas Top Model (& Canadas Top Model too) – will he agree to help the boys?
Nolé get them their first photoshoot. The lads meet with Danny from the Bronx – a leading male Instagram influencer – Nolé is guiding throughout their shoot with Diego & his photographer… their photos are put to the public vote – the world votes for their favourite model – who will win – Marty or Bernard?
