Episode 6 ELITE PILATES
Sian Horn is a Welsh girl, living in Cork with a pretty strong London accent (yes you read that right). She’s moved around so much with her VERY varied career path but moved to Ireland just under 20 years ago to help the David Lloyd Gyms open their Clonskeagh branch in South Dublin. That’s where she met Lee, a Cork man, 11 years ago, and she moved with him to Cork. The couple are due to get married soon.
Having moved to Cork though she didn’t let the grass grow under her feet and over time opened a chain of three Pilates studios, with the HQ based in the Donnybrook region of the city.
Sian is a serial entrepreneur. She wants to be busy and so a Pilates empire isn’t enough.
Unlike most fitness instructors, Sian is a size 18 and although she is fit, she realises that she doesn’t look like your typical fitness guru. She sells fitness gear….vests, leggings and the like, in her own studio and that coupled with her own experience of shopping for leisure wear, particularly given her size, has led her to now want to create her own brand – but a brand she believes is unique.
There is no better person to help Sian on this one than Sonya herself but it’s an episode riddled with frustration and missed deadlines as Sian’s wedding and honeymoon plans run tandem to trying to evolve her new business.
