It was only after Tchaikovsky’s death that his fifth symphony grew in popularity. Audiences and critics alike acknowledged Tchaikovsky’s great skill as an orchestrator and his powerful evocation of the idea of fate throughout the symphony. Today, it stands as one of his most loved symphonies. We’ll hear it performed by the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
