Michele Radix and Eoin McGee Image Name: Michele Radix and Eoin McGee

Episode 2 synopsis

In episode two, Eoin meets 50-something nurse Michele Radix from Sandyford in Dublin. A single mother, she currently lives in a three-bed apartment with her two teenage children, Clodagh and Darren. After nearly a decade of poor health and debt, Michele wants nothing more than to get her finances in order and her life back on track.

When the recession hit, Michele’s marriage broke down and she started to struggle to pay the household bills following some health issues. Her debts soon started to accumulate and, in time, became so unmanageable that Michele believed she and her children were on the brink of homelessness. And so, she turned to a housing agency who agreed to take over her mortgage.

When Eoin first meets Michele she is thankfully back working but she still carries the burden of debt – not just financially but emotionally too. Her financial situation plagues her so much she even worries who will pay for her own funeral costs!

Following a full review of her finances, Eoin identifies key areas that will help Michele gain financial freedom. He creates a plan to restructure her current debts; gives her spending rules to stop her accumulating more; and even provides Michele with some financial space to start enjoying life again – guilt-free.
