Dancing with the Stars returns for a brand new glitzy series on January 6th at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne will join forces this year to present series three of the show. Airing on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from Sunday 6th January, a total of 11 celebrities will pair up with their professional dancing partners. They will have a different dancing genre to master every week from the paso doble to the waltz and  just seven days to perfect their routine before performing live to the nation.

Also returning this year is our expert panel of judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson. Once again the celebrities and their dancers will be scored by the judges and the viewing public at home.

This year’s line up includes:

Broadcaster and entrepreneur Mairéad Ronan said: “I’m very excited but I have a big ball of nerves in my stomach! I’ve never done anything glamorous on TV, I’m always out in fields and mucky places with wellies and runners, so now to be in heels and sparkly dresses is both brilliant and brutal. The only dancing I do is around the kitchen with my baby, so this is going to be a whole new experience for me! “

Actor and comedian Eilish O’Carroll commented: “I’m so excited to be doing Dancing with the Stars. It’s like a dream come true. I feel like a kid and all my Christmas’s have come at one. I can’t wait to get started!”

TV broadcaster Darren Kennedy said: “I’m excited, petrified, terrified– I don’t know what I’ve got myself in for. It’s completely out of my comfort zone but ultimately I’m looking forward to it. I’ve zero dance experience. If I could write a letter to my younger self I would say ‘Stick with Billy Barry someday you’re going to be thankful’

Model and former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter commented: “I’m so excited to do the show. I’ve watched the last two series religiously with my Mom. When I met the pro-dancers I was almost star struck, so I’m truly delighted to be part of it. This is going to be physically and mentally challenging and I’m slightly terrified, but overall I’m really looking forward to it.

Comedian Fred Cooke said: “I’m so happy to be taking part on Dancing with the Stars this year. When it comes to dancing, I’m full of passion but I don’t have the technique. I’ll do my best to try and get both right on this incredible show.”

Award-winning actor Clelia Murphy commented: I can’t believe I’m doing Dancing with the Stars. I’m still in a bit of shock that I said yes! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done before and that’s exactly why it makes it so beautifully terrifying and thrilling all at the same time. I’m sorry now that I didn’t stick with dance classes as a child. I’m normally dressed from head to toe in black and I’m finding myself in a glorious rainbow sea of glitter and sequins and Spanx! I’m so far out of my comfort zone but I kind of love it.

Former Dublin footballer and five-time-All-Ireland winner Denis Bastick said: “ I really feel that this will be a great experience for me. It is completely different than anything I have ever done before. Since retiring from Dublin football I always wanted to try new things, I never imagined that this would be one of those things though! Football has given me a huge sense of accomplishment and DWTS is now presenting me with a massive challenge and the opportunity to accomplish something that is in such contrast to what I’m used to. I am slightly overwhelmed at the task in hand having seen what the dancers can do. They have amazing, athleticism, rhythm and coordination. I have probably one of those qualities so I will really need to put the work in!

Actor Johnny Ward commented: For once I get to be a gentleman rather than a psychotic gangster, kidnapper or clamper! I’m really looking forward to joining the show and leaning a new skill. The nerves are there but I’m up for the challenge and loving every minute of the experience.”

Legendary former munster and Ireland scrum half Peter Stringer said: ““I’ve never danced on a dance floor before so going from that to dancing in front of a live audience will be a whole new experience for me. I’m nervous but up for the challenge!”

Country music sensation Cliona Hagan commented: “I’m very excited, nervous, and a little apprehensive, but overall I’m feeling great and can’t wait to see how far I can push myself.”

And The Young Offender star Demi Isaac Oviawe said: “I’m so excited to be involved in this year’s show. I can’t wait to get started and learn a new skill. I’m hoping that I can be a role model for young black women in Ireland and maybe some might even follow in my dance steps!”

Don’t miss Dancing with the Stars when it returns for a brand news series on RTÉ One on Sunday, 6th January 2018 at 6.30pm.
