Over the course of the hour special we hear additional insights from the coaches on what it takes to be a winner and how they prepare their families for the battles they face in Ireland’s Fittest Family. Each coach has their own style and methods to get the best out of the families and hear how they work and who has the best strategies.
20 families, more then ever before, began series six of Fittest Family. We hear from a selection of them as they reflect on the most grueling events they have ever faced as they describe what it’s like to take on the Fittest Family obstacles.
The families’ talk through what the secret to success on Vertigo was, how they battled through the bog and what it is like to fail to scale the 12ft ramps. We hear from the men who broke records on Hanging Tough and how different it was to hang on in Croke Park’s Cusack Stand.
This year the final took place in the iconic Croke Park stadium. The families got a chance to walk in the footsteps of their sporting heroes and compete in one of the great stadiums of the world. While the final was unfolding our cameras were rolling behind the scenes on all the families and crew to show how the events are rigged and what is takes to the champions of Ireland’s Fittest Family.
This special episode also delves in to the heart of the competition as it highlights the family bonds that drive the competitors on week after week. It looks at how mothers will push themselves to the extreme for the children and how sibling rivalry turns to teamwork in the heat of the battle.
This final episode will round off series six as it looks back on Highs and Lows of the toughest competition on Irish TV.
