In Laytown, County Meath, Róisín and the team come to the rescue of avid upcyclers, Trudie, Dan and their sons Ciarán and Connor.
Róisín hatches a plan to redesign the entire kitchen area from moving the direction of the dishwasher to removing Dan’s beloved computer desk – part communications hub, part entertainment system. The real challenge for Róisín however is upstairs where eldest son Ciarán’s bedroom requires something more than a simple declutter.
Coping with a degenerative spinal condition that limits his mobility means that Ciarán can no longer use the wall-mounted bunk bed his dad built for him, and currently sleeps on a mattress on the floor. Working with very limited space, Róisín will have to create a design fit for Ciarán’s condition now, and in the future.
When Dad Dan insists on keeping his beloved computer desk, Róisín has to revise her plan quickly. Having already removed the wall, Peter’s not happy and there’s also the small matter of a dishwasher blocking the back door!
As the three-day build nears an end, will Róisín and Peter ever find common ground? Time will tell – and it’s running out fast!
