Tastes Like Home, Series 3, Episode 6, Monday 10th December, 7:30 PM, RTÉ One
Catherine Fukvio is in Cavan and Melbourne.
Meal: Seafood dish cooked in a coconut broth, served with a basil & truffle mash + crisp green vegetables
In the series finale of Tastes Like Home, Catherine meets with Cavan residents, Felicity (aka Flick) and husband Peter to make son, Eoin’s, favourite home dish. The Tastes Like Home team then take to the skies and travel to Melbourne, Australia, to meet Eoin who has lived abroad for ten years, and his fiance Julz in the hope of replicating Flick’s much-loved dish and bring a taste of home to Eoin. Catherine also serves up a delicious dessert, a chocolate tart with rose poached pears.
Catherine said: “Melbourne – what I can say but wow! We went to the set of Neighbours and guess what, Dr David (Takaya Honda) was there to welcome us and bring us on a personal tour! Not only that we were on set when the rehearsals were ongoing! I did try to get a part as an extra but instead Dr David brought us to the real Ramsey Street, where we saw Kylie’s old house! Apparently there is an actual Ramsey Street in Melbourne where lots of tourists show up only to be disappointed, as it’s nothing like the Neighbours Ramsey Street.”
This is the final episode of the popular TV series that returned in November for six consecutive weeks, serving up delicious recipes steeped in tradition, and a flavour of incredible culture and sights from locations right across the world. As well as delighting viewers with recipes, culture and captive travel, the series captures six individual stories, from Irish contributors who refuse to let the physical distance from home, curb their appetite for a home-cooked meal, a taste of home.
