Episode 4

First Quarter Final – Dublin Docks

The coaches: Donncha O’Callaghan, Anna Geary, Derval O’Rourke and Davy Fitzgerald, will watch their families battle it out for precious places in the semi-final of the competition. They know only the best will make it through to the semi finals and go one step closer to winning the title of Ireland’s Fittest Family 2018.

The first quarter-final sees: Anna’s Coneys from Tyrone, Davy’s McDonalds from Laois, Derval’s Sinnotts from Wexford and Donncha’s Lallys from Dublin going head to head.

The first challenge the families face is a signature Fittest Family event, Hanging Tough. The coaches know what it takes to succeed on Hanging Tough but can they get their families to hang on longest and earn top points?

The second task for the families sees them all compete at the same time in the Arena Challenge. This will test their speed, strength, endurance and teamwork as they go head to head.

The two families with the most points after the two challenges will go straight through to the semi finals, while the bottom two must fight it out for the remaining place.

With two very different challenges facing the families the coaches know they need to be in top form to get the best out of their families and secure a place in the semi finals.

Story Notes

  • Record breaking time on Hanging Tough by 61 year old Martin McDonald from Laois
  • Keith Lally is sick before the quarter final and Donncha makes a house call
